VAMP puts pressure on traditional powder coatings production process

After 5 years of development and millions in funding, Ferro introduces a super-critical fluid process that promises to lower the cure temperature and film thickness of the powder coatings it produces to as-yet unheard of levels in extrusion-produced coatings. New markets may open as a result.

Cleveland-based Ferro Corp. recently debuted a supercritical-fluid powder coatings manufacturing process at Powder Coating '95 that is causing quite a stir in the powder coating industry. The stir isn't over the system's provocative claim. The company claims that the VAMP [Vedoc Advanced Manufacturing Process] will revolutionise the powder coating industry.
