An EPA proposed rule sets limits on wastewater discharges generated by metal finishers
The US Environmental Protection Agency [EPA] is developing effluent limitations guidelines, pretreatment standards, and new source performance standards for the Metal Products & Machinery [MP&M] point source category.
According to the EPA, this regulation, when finalized, will establish technology-based effluent limitations for wastewater discharges to navigable waters from MP&M plants regulated by the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System [NPDES] permitting program and will also set pretreatment standards for the introduction of pollutants into publicly owned treatment works [POTWs] from MP&M plants.
