About 2 years ago, Industrial Coating Services, a finishing job shop in Indianapolis, found itself with a lucrative contract to powder coat engine blocks and heads for Navistar International, an Indianapolis company that builds diesel engines for midsize trucks. Winning the contract meant ICS needed to bring in a fifth coating line, its second powder coating line. The 13-year-old company also runs an e-coat line, a dry-film lubricant line. and a wet paint line. The 230 ICS employees finish automotive and appliance parts for various companies.
