Job shop courts success with graffiti-fighting powder
A Nebraska-based custom coater initiates a full-court press to find a powder coating for basketball equipment that can defeat vandals on their own turf - school playgrounds and city parks.
In basketball, a player who is "in the paint" is considered a threat to score. But Ivan Reed, division manager at Industrial Powder Coating, Lincoln, Nebr., said he wanted to score an antigraffiti coating without turning to liquid paint. "I didn't want anything to do with [paint]," he said.
