Nick's Niche: Part material handling — The key to coating success
Moving parts through a coating operation efficiently can be the difference between a successful coating process and one that never quite works very well. Knowing what part material handling options are out there, how they work, when they are selected, and why one may be better for a particular application will help you determine what part material handling system is best for your process.
The first thing you have to do is right-size the part conveyance method. Right-sizing is the process whereby you determine the speed or pace of the conveyance process to move product through a coating operation to match anticipated production requirements. Some conveyance methods are more suitable for batch operations, while others are best for high production operations. Obviously, you cannot interchange low production conveyance methods in high production coating processes because it just won't work.
