Big Three automakers powder clearcoat their first vehicles under production conditions
The Big Three automakers reach a milestone in powder clearcoat testing when they clearcoat a Dodge Neon, Chevrolet Lumia, and Lincoln Town Car at USCAR Low Emissions Paint Consortium's pilot plant. The commitment to powder continues, despite drawbacks.
It's been more than a year since Big Three automakers first sprayed powder clearcoat on a vehicle part at their pilot test plant. Although the experience hasn't been all smooth sailing, the engineers behind the shared project are optimistic that powder clearcoat will be the automotive topcoat for the cars of the next century.
