CUSTOM COATER SPOTLIGHT: Midwest Powder Coating, Hastings, Nebraska
Midwest Powder Coating has been operating for a quarter of a century, the past 9 years with its current name, in Hastings, a city of 25,000 people in the agricultural heartland of south-central Nebraska. According to Steve Young, plant manager, the custom coating shop specializes in the flocking application of fusion-bonded epoxies that provide heavy mil thickness for improved water flow and corrosion protection.
Most of the shop’s product line if for the municipal and agriculture pump industry, although the shop can process small castings to very large fabrications in its coating room (16 feet wide, 30 feet long, and 8 feet tall). Its electrostatic application operation allows the shop to coat a wide range of parts with any powder formulation, Young said. That’s apparent in the photos here.
