All SBT materials are not created equal

The most abundant element in the earth's crust is silicon. In turn, this element is the basis for a range of materials so broad that they're used in almost every industry today. The term silicon-based technology [SBT] is used to classify the range of materials derived from silicon.

Often, these materials are erroneously catagorized under the general term silicones. In fact, many silicon-based materials aren't silicones, strictly speaking. Although silicone materials fall within the SBT classification, SBT materials encompass a wider spectrum of physical forms, properties and performance.
