Disc lets powder fly for a smooth, even finish
When the time came for William Johnson to move his powder coating job shop from Norfolk, Va., to Detroit, he decided it was a good time to make some other changes as well.
The Virginia shop housed two powder coating booths used to coat the automobile components W.D. Johnson Powder Coating supplies to Ford and General Motors. The twin-belt booths measured 30 feet long by 15 feet wide. Johnson wanted to specifically dedicate coating lines to the various powder coatings he used. The Detroit plant would therefore need more than two booths. But Johnson couldn't spare the space. He saw a solution to the problem, however, during a demonstration while buying equipment for the move to Detroit - a powder disc.
